Arezzo, August 28, 2025 – Ex-Sacci area. Ceccarelli: "Veneri was certainly distracted and, to say the least, uninformed about the facts."
It seems to me that my colleague Veneri has been a bit distracted over the last year on the subject of the Corsalone variant and is only returning to address it now because the elections are approaching, making statements that clearly demonstrate how misinformed he is, to say the least.
These are the opening words of the response from the Democratic Party group leader in the Regional Council, Vincenzo Ceccarelli, to the statement released yesterday by the Fdi councillor Veneri .
Veneri claims that the former Sacci area is free and available for the project, but this is contradicted by an ordinance issued by the Municipality of Bibbiena on February 19, which required the property to remove and dispose of all waste on the site in question to ensure the protection of public health. This ordinance, which has still not been implemented, confirms all those concerns about the state of the former "Sacci" area that I have found myself forcefully expressing over the past two years, while Councilor Veneri was distracted by other matters, given that the Municipal Administration had let almost two years go by without taking prompt and adequate action, in response to the requests of ARPAT and ASL, to ensure that the area was cleaned up, to guarantee and protect public health. I don't know," Ceccarelli continues, "which court Veneri cited, which would have certified the absence of contamination, but there is certainly a ruling by the Regional Administrative Court, which overturned a previous flawed ordinance from the Municipality of Bibbiena. issued in 2023, requesting that the ordinance be reissued in the correct form. Regarding the usefulness of the Corsalone bypass, there have also been recent statements by mayors of Casentino calling for its construction. On the other hand, whatever the future use of the former Sacci area, adequate road access, in addition to securing a stretch of SR 71 with a high accident rate, is essential to avoid traffic congestion throughout the valley. Regarding the fanciful idea of allocating the resources the Region has budgeted for the bypass to an unspecified 'training center,' my colleague Veneri should be clear that if the project is not completed, the resources would be allocated to other necessary regional roadworks, and the region would suffer heavily. In reality, the Regional Council has already resolved to resume the project's construction process, with the first version of the project, as soon as the area is finally made available. All that remains is to hope. after years of vain waiting, the municipality must do what it has to do to the end."
